Iowa director was warned about his lewd comments long before the governor fired him

The interim director of the Iowa Finance Authority says that months before former director Dave Jamison was fired for sexual harassment, she warned him to curb his lewd comments to female employees.

Her statement follows another employee’s allegations, contained in a letter released Thursday, that two other high-ranking staffers at the authority also had warned Jamison to rein in his language long before he was fired.

Based on the content of the letter and what was described, it’s clear that a hostile work environment existed for all employees, but especially for women, said Beth Barnhill, director of the Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault.

“Disgusting actions like the ones described in this letter have absolutely no place in the workplace or in our society at large. Enough is enough,” Barnhill said.
