To men on sexual harassment: Keep your hands to yourself and watch your mouth

The easiest and worst mistake any of us could make with the horrible slew of sexual harassment and rape allegations piling up against producer Harvey Weinstein is to convince ourselves it's just a Hollywood problem.

At least 45 women have publicly accused the once-powerful movie mogul of sexual misconduct. Actor and activist Rose McGowan alleged Weinstein raped her.

But most of us knew — or at least strongly suspected — Hollywood and celebrity-making was a sleazy business filled with dangerous creeps and predators.

...But it isn't just Hollywood. Sexual harassment and violence is in every office and workplace in America and, yes, right here in Iowa.

"The problem is not unique to the cult of celebrity or Hollywood," said Kerri True-Funk, associate director of the Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Violence. "The reality is sexual harassment is everywhere and across the entire spectrum of work, from co-workers to supervisors to customers, clients and consumers."
