Save the Date: Move to End Violence Conference Sept 27-28
PLEASE NOTE: As of September 19, 2017, the conference is sold out and will no longer be accepting registrations.
The Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV), the Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault (IowaCASA) and their statewide network of Culturally Specific Victim Service Programs invite you to join them at the Moving Together: Cultivating Dialogue for Social Change Conference this fall.
What: Moving Together Conference: Cultivating Dialogue for Social Change
When: Sept. 27 - 28, 2017
Where: Holiday Inn - DSM Airport/Conference Center, 6111 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, IA 50321
The conference is an opportunity to roll out the work ICADV and IowaCASA have been a part of at the national level with the Move to End Violence (MEV) Center. MEV supports leaders within the movement to end violence field from across the country to step back from their daily work to envision the change they want to see, imagine new strategies and build the capacity needed to realize this change.
Over the course of two days, attendees will explore the issues of intimate partner, sexual and communal violence by readjusting their lens and connecting issues that have been present in their communities and have gone unaddressed. These include but are not limited to mass incarceration, over reliance to the criminal justice system, mandatory minimums, state violence, racism, poverty, class, LGBTQ rights and voter rights.
Together, participants will outline and develop strategies and next steps to strengthen and build their communities to reach all survivors of violence and enhance community healing.
