Training

IowaCASA provides training for sexual assault advocates across the state. An advocate is a trained professional whose job it is to support those who have experienced sexual violence.

We also provide training for professionals who work regularly with survivors, such as lawyers, nurses, and law enforcement.

On average, IowaCASA trains 500-1,000 people every year. Our training process for advocates includes certification, as outlined under Iowa law.

Nuestras Voces (Our Voices) conference with IowaCASA presenter Elizabeth Balcarcel.

We develop and maintain all educational materials for our training. Training topics include sexual assault prevention, medical advocacy, child sexual assault, rape culture, the effects of sexual trauma, and so much more.
