Sexual Assault Statistics for the State of Iowa 2009, Compiled by the Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault using the Iowa Crime Victim Assistance Division, Fiscal Year 2007 Annual Report and the 2008 Iowa Uniform Crime Report.

The Iowa Attorney General's Office Crime Victim Assistance Division reports that 4,028 adults; 237 incest survivors; 1,019 teens; and 833 children were served by Iowa sexual violence centers from July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007.

According to the 2008 Iowa Uniform Crime Report by the Iowa Department of Public Safety there were 931 reported cases of forcible rape (126 subsequent arrests); 151 reported cases of forcible sodomy (24 subsequent arrests); 108 reported cases of sexual assault with an object (4 subsequent arrests); 716 reported cases of forcible fondling (102 subsequent arrests); 43 reported cases of incest (13 subsequent arrests); and 148 reported of statutory rape (80 subsequent arrests).

*In 2008, 70.8% of the rape victims knew their attacker. Among these known assailants 34.1% were recorded as being acquaintances of the victim. Otherwise known persons represented the next highest category accounting for 9.1% of the total relationships followed by strangers accounting for 6.8% of the total.

*Ninety-four percent of the rape victims were reported as being female.

*In 2008, 96.8% of rape arrestees were male (120) and 3.2% were female.
